Rabotnichki’s great journey in the Europa League came to an end on Thursday after Rubin celebrated a 1:0 victory in the return leg.

Shkendija overcame an early deficit to destroy Bregalnica, Vardar squeaked past Metalurg, Sileks picked up another victory, while Turnovo grabbed a late draw away to Shkupi.

Vardar and Shkendija made easy work of Mladost CD and Metalurg, respectively, Shkupi edged Bregalnica in Shtip, while Sileks’ 0:0 draw against Turnovo meant there is no longer a team with the maximum number of points this season.

Rabotnichki continued to showcase great fighting spirit as they scored a late equalizer, while playing with 10 men, to salvage a 1:1 draw against Rubin Kazan.

Vardar grabbed two late goals to beat Shkendija in the derby of the round, Rabotnichki celebrated over Turnovo in a high scoring affair, while Sileks made it two out of two after their triumph over Bregalnica.

The Second League got things underway, one week after the top division, with debutants Ljubanci making an impressive start by humiliating Gorno Lisiche.

Twelve games took place on Wednesday in which all of the favorites celebrated victories. The only mild surprise was last season’s runner-up Teteks exiting the cup to Ljubanci. Both are now second division sides.

The 24th edition of the First League got underway on Sunday, and we witnessed plenty of goals in the opening round.

For Rabotnichki to become the first Macedonian club to reach the group stages of the Europa League, they will need to overcome Rubin Kazan of Russia.
