Defender Tome Kitanovski will continue his career in Romania after agreeing to terms with CS Universitatea Craiova.
Romanian website “DigiSport” broke the news of CS Universitatea Craiova signing 21-year-old Macedonian defender Tome Kitanovski. CS Universitatea Craiova will look for Kitanovski to play the right-back position once the second half of the season resumes in early March. “DigiSport” noted that Kitanovski is expected to arrive in Romania on Sunday, and will then begin trainings with his new club the next day.
Kitanovski was born in Bitola and has spent his career with hometown club Pelister. Tome has been capped by several of the youth national teams of Macedonia, and also made one appearance for the senior national team in the friendly against Poland in December of 2012. As a reminder, for that friendly, then manager Chedomir Janevski called up a squad of mainly domestic based players, including Kitanovski who came off the bench late in the match to make his debut.
With his move to Romania, Kitanovski will become the fifth Macedonian player to be under contract with a club from that country. He will join others such as Daniel Georgievski, Mirko Ivanovski, Kristijan Naumovski and Boban Nikolov. However, as we reported earlier, based on a report from prosport.ro, it is possible that Ivanovski may leave his team during the winter transfer window.
CS Universitatea Craiova competes in the second division which is divided into two series. Tome’s new team plays in Series II and finds itself in 1st place at the midway point of the season.
