Today was the draw for the 3rd round of UEFA Champions League and Europa League qualifications. The most interesting for Macedonia is the fact that if Rabotnicki passes Mika will play against giant Liverpool.
Rabotnicki got the most attractive opponent in today’s draw. Premier League 18-times winner and 5-times holder of the Champions League, FC Liverpool is the opponent that waits in the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League. The winner of the clash Rabotnicki – Mika will have the honor to match this giant. Rabotnicki has an 1:0 lead from the first leg played in Skopje, and all that has to do is not to be defeated in the return leg in Armenia. Than, we will be vitnesses of the greatest club that has ever came to play in Macedonia. Clubs like Roma, Lille, Parma, CSKA Moskva, Lokomotiv Moskva, Sparta Praha, Porto, Bolton and Bordeaux have all played in Macedonia, but none of them with a bigger name than the Reds from Anfield Road. Liverpool will play at home in the first leg that will be played on 29nd of July, while Rabotnicki (or Mika) will host the return leg on 5th of August.
Teteks could play against the winner of the clash between Swedish side Elfsborg and Moldovan team Iskra-Stal. Elfsborg has a 2:1 lead from the first leg, but now must defend that lead away in Moldova. Anyway, first Teteks must get pass Latvian side Ventspils. A goalless draw was the outcome from the first game in Latvia and now at home Teteks must score a goal and also must win because a draw with goals will mean that Ventspils will be going into the 3rd round.
The chances of Macedonian champion Renova to eliminate Omonia from Cyprus are equal to S-F, but until the second leg is played everything is an option. In the 3rd qualification round of the Champions League, Renova or Omonia will have to face the winner of the clash between Austrian champion Red Bull Salzburg and Tórshavn from the Faroe Islands. The Austrians have a comfortable 5:0 lead from the first leg and it’s hard to say that they aren’t sure for the 3rd round.
