Goals for both Goran Pandev and Ivan Trickovski to ensure a great start for each player in 2012, while Stefan Ristovski made his league debut for Crotone.
Italy, Serie A, Palermo – Napoli 1:3
Goran Pandev started for Napoli and played until the 82nd minute when he was replaced by Cristian Chávez. Pandev scored the opening goal for Napoli in the 36th minute when fellow striker Edinson Cavani made a nice pass to the surging Walter Gargano whose low cross from the right was controlled by Pandev who then turned and scored an easy goal from close range past the Palermo keeper. Goran had another great chance in the 41st minute but his effort from a good position went just inches wide of the left goal post. Then, in the 46th minute, Pandev came close once again but his left footed shot from outside of the area was barely saved by the outstretched arms of the opposing keeper. Goran’s final chance of the game came in the 58th minute but his clever chip attempt took a deflection off a Palermo defender before striking the right goal post.
Italy, Serie B, Brescia – Crotone 3:0
Stefan Ristovski began on the bench for Crotone before he entered the game in the 66th minute replacing Antonio Mazzotta. Despite the usual starting right-back being out with an injury, the Crotone manager decided to field Mazzotta, a left back, at RB and only brought on Ristovski in the 66th minute. Crotone was losing 2:0 at that point and would eventually suffer a 3:0 road loss against Brescia.
