Round 11

Macedonian First League – Round 11

Round 11Another league defeat for Rabotnicki, Vardar extended its lead at the top of the table, Teteks bounced back with a draw against Renova, while Ohrid and Bregalnica Stip noted valuable home victories.

The problems continue for Rabotnicki in league play.  After losing the last league game 2:1 against Ohrid at home, Rabotnicki suffered another loss today with the same 2:1 scoreline, this time on the road against Sileks.  Recent newcomer Dušan Savić scored the lone goal for Rabotnicki in the 17th minute but also received a red card in the 62nd minute for his second yellow card of the game.  For Sileks, Gjorgi Markov converted a penalty in the 7th minute before Angel Nacev scored the game winning goal in the 51st minute.

Vardar stayed undefeated with a 3:0 win over Horizont Turnovo.  Vardar scored all three goals after the 70th minute as the visitors proved difficult to break down for long stretches in the game.  However, in the 71st minute, Horizont Turnovo defender Aleksandar Milusev scored an own goal and then Vardar relaxed and was able to add two more goals thanks to a brace from captain Filip Ivanovski.  Vardar now has 27 points after 11 rounds with eight wins and three draws.

After getting destroyed 6:0 earlier in the week during a domestic cup game, Teteks faced Renova once again looking for some revenge.  Things were not looking good for Teteks when defender Toni Gjorgievski received a straight red card in the 52nd minute.  Soon thereafter, Renova compiled a 2:0 lead with goals by Fisnik Nuhiu and Boban Jancevski.  However, Teteks did not quit and despite playing with a man down, they managed to pick up a point thanks to goals by Aleksandar Urošević in the 72nd minute and Nikolce Kleckarovski in the 85th minute.

In the other games played today, Ohrid and Bregalnica Stip noted important home victories to pick up three points.  Despite all of the turmoil, Ohrid managed to record a 3:1 win over Napredok and their coach Dragan Boceski who was originally born in Ohrid.  Meanwhile, in Stip, the battle between the bottom two teams on the table resulted in a 2:0 win for Bregalnica over 11 Oktomvri.  Recent new addition Genc Hyseni scored his first goal in a Bregalnica uniform.

Shkendija hosts Metalurg tomorrow to conclude the round at 14:00 CET.  This is a matchup of the second place Metalurg going up against third placed Shkendija.  Both teams need to win in order to keep up with Vardar who collected another three points today with their win over Horizont Turnovo.
