Bogatinov out of squad for Karpaty

Despite Karpaty having an interim manager, goalkeeper Martin Bogatinov did not make the bench for today’s game against Kryvbas.

Just like in the previous two games, Andriy Tlumak started in goal for Karpaty while  21-year-old Oleksandr Ilyuschenkov was on the bench as the #2 keeper.  The new interim manager did not prove to make a difference for Bogatinov who has been dropped from the squad.

From reading some newspapers out of Ukraine, this could be related to money.  Karpaty is struggling mightily this season and the owner has requested the reduction of salaries.  To save money, the team has started not calling up several players, including Bogatinov, with the intent of alienating them so they will want to mutually terminate their contract in the 2012 January transfer window.

Unless injuries occur, it is fair to assume that Bogatinov has already played his last game in a Karpaty uniform.  The interim manager is a good friend of the previous coach and the management of the club is under increased pressure to cut salaries after a disastrous start to the season.
