Macedonian Cup 1/8 finals: 1st leg results

Macedonian Cup 2013Convincing wins for Renova and Pelister, Teteks and Shkendija also won, while Metalurg played a draw with Horizont Turnovo.

Cup holders Renova already booked their place in the quarter-finals by beating 11 Oktomvri 5:0 on the toad.  Pelister also won with the same score against Babi to also move very close to securing a place in the quarter-finals.  Teteks beat Lokomotiva 2:0 away to also one step closer to reaching the next round.

Metalurg failed to use the home field advantage by playing to a draw against Horizont Turnovo.  These two teams played an entertaining match with a combined six goals in a 3:3 draw.  Metalurg was considered one of the favorites but could be heading for an early exit if they are unable to beat Turnovo in the return leg.

In the other interesting clash, Shkendija celebrated a minimal 1:0 win over Bregalnica Shtip.  The result is still wide open and the return leg in Shtip will ultimately decide the winner of this match-up.

The only Third League side left in the competition, Bashkimi, played a draw at home against Sileks.  Bashkimi got a decent result against the First League challenger but with an away game coming, their hopes are still slim.

Yesterday, Pobeda Junior and Drita played a goalless draw, while the last game between Vardar and Gorno Lisiche was postponed for 19 September due to the fact that Vardar has several players participating for both the senior and U21 national teams.
