Karbinci was the winner of this year’s friendly tournament “ISI Cheshinovo” after defeating last year’s champion Chiflik.

The Ilinden Sports Games were held for the 40th time in Cheshinovo with the football tournament being one of the most crowded events.  The final game was played yesterday on the national holiday “Ilinden” between Karbinci and Chiflik, the teams that also featured in last year’s final.  Since the match ended in a goalless draw, the finalists had to be decided on penalties.  The thrilling penalty shootout ended after 11 shots for each side with Karbinci prevailing 9:8.

To get there, in the semi-finals, Karbinci defeated Pishica 4:1, while Chiflik played 1:1 against Obleshevo but eliminated them 4:2 on penalties.

Overall, 16 teams participated in the football tournament starting with four groups of four with the best two advancing in the knock-out round.  The participating teams were: 1-vi Maj, AGROS, Beli, Cheshinovo (host), Chiflik (title holder), Karaorman, Karbinci, Krupishte, Obleshevo, Pishica, Sokolarci, Spanchevo, Tarinci, Ularci, Zhiganci and Zrnovka.
