Scotland could be the next destination of Gjoko Zajkov after Hamilton invited the 20-year-old central defender on trial.
Last month, we wrote an article that Gjoko Zajkov was expendable at Rennes. He never received a chance at the club, and it was obvious that nothing was going to change this season. So, Zajkov was transfer listed by Rennes, available on a permanent basis or a loan.
Reputable French newspaper “L’Équipe” wrote this past Saturday that Aberdeen and Hamilton, two Scottish clubs, had expressed interest in Zajkov. It was reported that Zajkov’s situation was likely to be resolved the following week (now this week).

Well, on Tuesday, that rumor was confirmed when news outlets in Scotland reported that Gjoko Zajkov would be arriving on a 3-day trial with Hamilton. Hamilton wanted to observe Zajkov’s qualities before deciding whether he would be retained. By Thursday or Friday, we should know whether Zajkov will move to Hamilton. If it does happen, it would likely be a 1-year loan with the option to purchase him outright next summer.
The 2015-16 league campaign in Scotland got underway this past weekend. Hamilton drew its first game 0:0. Their second fixture is schedule for this Saturday against Ross County.
