Daniel Georgievski was interviewed by DigiSport in which he talked about the past year in a Steaua uniform and also answered a question about his future in a noncommittal way.
With the Romanian season being on break for the winter after the conclusion of the 1st half, website DigiSport sat down for an interview with Georgievski. The topics mainly focused on recapping the past year and also answering whether Steaua is still the favorite to win the league title this season.
Additionally, Daniel was also asked whether he wanted to stay at Steaua or go experience another championship. Georgievski gathered his thoughts for several seconds before answering, “Football wise, an accomplishment is an accomplishment. I would love to win the championship again, and again, and again. It all depends on other people, other decisions. My philosophy is whatever happens, happens. Everything happens for a reason, so we’ll see what happens.”
Georgievski’s contract with Steaua expires in the summer of 2014, so the upcoming winter transfer window is the last opportunity for the Romanian club to get some money for Georgievski. His answer to the question, by avoiding to directly say whether he wants to stay at Steaua or not, will only fuel speculation about his future come the winter transfer window.
Daniel originally joined Steaua back in the summer of 2012 after previously playing for Croatian side Šibenik. At first, he didn’t get much playing time, but then was given an opportunity and seized it by becoming the regular starter at right-back. Georgievski then had a setback in November of 2012 when he suffered a broken leg. However, he recovered quicker than expected and was back as the starter in March of 2013. That continued for the remainder of last season and the start of this current campaign as well, when a dismal performance in the Champions League against Chelsea in October of 2013 led to anger aimed at Georgievski from the Steaua owner and fans. After that, Daniel was no longer a regular starter and was alternated with other players at the right-back position. Now, with his contract status, Steaua will have a decision to make about Georgievski in the winter transfer window. They can either extend his contract, keep him and lose him for free in the summer or sell him to another club.
