Dragan Stojkov currently finds himself in the U.S. where he is looking to win a contract with LA Galaxy II.
LA Galaxy II was just formed as a club earlier this year. They will be the reserve team of the LA Galaxy, a club that competes in the U.S. top division. LA Galaxy is testing many new players as they are in the process of assembling a roster in anticipation for the season opener late next month.
According to the club’s website, LA Galaxy II will feature “LA Galaxy first team players, players signed by Galaxy II and LA Galaxy Academy players.” LA Galaxy will compete in USL Pro, the third tier in the U.S. football (soccer) system.
In their first game as a newly formed club, LA Galaxy II won 2:1 in a friendly against Fresno Fuego. Stojkov played the opening half for LA Galaxy II. On their website, they described the players that suited up for LA Galaxy II in that friendly. Here is the description that the website had for Stojkov, “Central midfielder Dragan Stojkov: A 25-year-old former Macedonian youth international who spent the last four seasons with FK Jagodina of Serbia’s first division. Stojkov made 53 appearances for Jagodina over that span.”
Stojkov should know in the near future whether LA Galaxy II plans on offering him a contract. He began training with them earlier this month after he was released by Jagodina following the completion of the first half of the season in Serbia.
