Macedonia U21 only played a 1:1 draw against Faroe Islands, and hurt its chances of qualifying for the 2013 U21 championships, to be held in Israel.

The undefeated series continued for the U21 team, but only with a draw away to Faroe Islands.  The hosts took the lead in 54th minute after a costly own goal that could have easily been prevented, while attacker Ilija Nestorovski scored the equalizer for Macedonia in the 77th minute.

Although Macedonia was the favorite to win the match, they will leave Faroe Islands with just one point.  Macedonia had two good chances in the first half, through Aleksandar Trajkovski in 30th minute and Stefan Ashkovski in the 37th minute, but both of those efforts went off target.  Babunski also had an opportunity in the 43rd minute but his shot from 20 meters went wide of the goal.

In the second half,  Macedonia U21 conceded a terrible own goal after a huge mistake by the keeper Filip Gachevski.  Defender Kire Ristevski played a ball back to the keeper who terribly misplayed the ball and it resulted in an own goal for a 1:0 lead for Faroe Islands.  Macedonia took the initiative after the goal and managed to score the equalizer in the 77th minute through Ilija Nestorovski, who entered the game four minutes prior to his goal.  Gachevski then made some amends for his terrible mistake earlier in the game by making a very good save in the 82nd minute to deny an opposing player during a one on one opportunity.  Meanwhile, in the 88th minute, Samir Fazli squandered a big chance for Macedonia when he sent a shot from close range over the goal.  In stoppage time, Fazli and David Babunski argued about who to take a free kick.  Babunski, who won the foul, eventually took the free kick but it struck the wall and it resulted in a corner.  From the resulting corner, the ball was cleared from danger before the referee blew the final whistle.

Macedonia U21: Gachevski, Siljanovski, Bogdanovic, Ristevski, Ashkovski (46′ Hasani), Tairi (73′ Nestorovski), Husmani, Babunski, An. Stankov, Trajkovski (61′ Al. Stankov), Fazli.
