Goalkeeper Tome Pacovski has signed a contract extension with Beerschot until the summer of 2014 with an option for an additional year.
The new contract was reached earlier today by Tome Pacovski and the representatives for Beerschot. Pacovski’s contract was set to expire at the end of the season but now Tome will remain with Beerschot for the next couple of years. Nobody would have believed this was possible at the start of the season as Pacovski opened as the #3 keeper. However, after solid performances in domestic cup matches and displaying professionalism in training, Beerschot has decided to reward Pacovski with a new contract. Speaking about the contract extension, Pacovski said, “I’m very happy. I saw no reason not to stay at Beerschot.”
Pacovski recently took over as the regular starter for Beerschot after Stijn Stijnen went down with an injury. With this new contract, it shows that Beerschot values Pacovski for the future so Tome could remain as the starting keeper even when Stijnen recovers from his injury.
Tome joined Beerschot in the summer of 2009 as a free agent. He was a regular starter in his first season with Beerschot but then suffered a serious double leg fracture early in his second season during a game against Anderlecht. That injury forced him to miss several months and that affected his status with the club. Beerschot wasn’t counting on Pacovski for this season but his hard work and determination did not go unnoticed and after Tome took advantage of his few opportunities to get on the good graces of the club, Beerschot rewarded him with a new contract until the summer of 2014.
