Teteks and Rabotnicki once again lost in the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League and ended their adventure.
Teteks started well against Elfsborg and was leading 1:0 since the 31st minute. Captain Srgjan Zaharievski took a corner and Aleksandar Stojanovski brought the lead to the team from Tetovo. Three minutes before the end of the first half, the Swedish team equalized with Elmin Kurbegović’s goal. In the 56th minute, Amadou Jawo scored the second goal for Elfsborg bringing the lead to the guests. The score of 1:2 happened to be the final result since no more goals were scored at the national Arena Philip II of Macedon in Skopje. Teteks ended their first ever European adventure. The elimination of Ventspils in the previuos round will remain in history as the biggest achievement for the club from Tetovo.
Rabotnicki as well ended it’s European adventure. 2:0 was the result for Liverpool, but this time, with by far better play by Rabotnicki than in the first game in Skopje. In the 21st minute Liverpool opened the score with David N’Gog’s header after Stiven Gerrard took a corner. The second goal was scored from penalty after Fernando Lopes fouled N’Gog. Captain Gerrard converted the penalty for 2:0. Rabotnicki failed to score a goal in both games against Liverpool, but closest to do that was 20-years old substitute Filip Petkovski who hit the post in the 1st minute of the injury time at Anfield. Man of the match was surely Rabotnicki’s goalkeeper Martin Bogatinov who on several occasions saved his goal and prevented Liverpool from scoring a few more goals.
