The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has suspended three players and two coaches for their part in the recent brawl between Suwon and Al-Sadd during the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League.  One of those players is Stevica Ristić from Suwon.  As a matter of fact, all three players suspended were the ones who picked up red cards during the game.  The Suwon coach Ko Jong-Soo and the goalkeeping coach of Al-Sadd were also suspended by the AFC.

On the official website of Asia’s football body, it was also announced that disciplinary proceedings will be opened against the three players and two coaches in question which will then be referred to the AFC disciplinary committee for deliberation.

Macedonian manager John Toshack recently announced that he planned on calling up striker Stevica Ristić for the Albania friendly in mid November.  However, this suspension could cause problems for that plan.  Previously, former manager Mirsad Jonuz announced that suspended players would not be called up by Macedonia.  Will that policy continue under Toshack?  That remains to be seen but this suspension could cost Ristić a place on the Macedonian national team in the near future.
