Stefan Ashkovski became the second Macedonian player to sign with Novi Pazar this summer, joining Ivan Nastevski.
After adding Ivan Nastevski earlier this month, Novi Pazar made three more signings on Saturday. Two of them have a Macedonian connection. One is former youth national team player Stefan Ashkovski, while the other is Boshko Stupic, a Bosnian striker who has played for numerous clubs in Macedonia.
Ashkovski moves to Novi Pazar on a season-long loan from Partizan. His contract with Partizan expires in the summer of 2016, so this loan will take him to that date. It also means that next summer he will no longer be property of Partizan.
At his press conference on Saturday, Ashkovski said he was disappointed that he never got a chance at Partizan. Over the past three years, he has been sent on loan to five different teams. His last two stops, at Strømsgodset (Norway) and Shkendija, were really frustrating. He rarely saw action at either of those teams. Ashkovski then returned to Partizan this summer, but he was not in the plans of the manager. So, that culminates to today when he moves on loan to Novi Pazar.
When it comes to Stupic, he is a 31-year old striker who has played for many clubs in his career. That includes five in Macedonia: Vardar, Sileks, Rabotnichki, Pelister and Bregalnica. He spent last season with Pelister (first half of season) and Bregalnica (second half of season).
