Shkendija defeated Metalurg 2:0 today to conclude the 11th round of the Macedonian top division.
The result was beneficial for table leaders Vardar as they extended their lead to five points over second placed Metalurg and six points over Shkendija. This was Metalurg’s first loss of the season as they had six wins and four draws prior to this game. Shkendija scored two 1st half goals through Muhamed Huseini in the 26th minute and Ersan Sali just before halftime in the 45th minute.
Shkendija then went down to 10 men in the 65th minute when Sali was shown a red card. However, the defending champions held the lead and 2:0 would be the final score of the game. This was the first loss in the managerial career of Gjorgi Hristov who was coaching his second game for Metalurg.
The match in Tetovo was played without a crowd as Shkendija was serving the second and final game of their two game ban by the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM) for crowd troubles.
