Second League – Round 1

Moment of the Vlazrimi - Napredok game; photo: KF Vlazrimi FbThe new season in the Second League started today with many draws and only two wins.

Fist we have to note two things:
-Vlazrimi who won the Third League West last season and later lost in the promotion play-offs fused with Vrapchishte and is now competing in the Second League.
– Miravci changed its name into Kozhuf, but since there is another much older club with the same name, we will refer to them as Kozhuf Miravci.

It is hard to say who are the firm favourites for the first two promotion places. Looking at the squads, Shkupi should be there at the end of the season. Today they beat Drita with 3:1 and announced their goal.

Since the league got reduced into only 10 teams, it will be very interesting to see the battle for avoiding relegation as the bottom two teams will face direct relegation while the 8th placed team will enter the play-offs for filling the Second League together with the winners of the five Third Leagues.

Besides Shkupi, only Vlazrimi managed to win, beating Napredok in the Derby of Kichevo. The other four games ended in draws with Skopje and Gostivar failing to even score. Mladost Carev Dvor played its firs historical Second League game against Makedonija GjP and thanks to a converted penalty escaped the defeat. They will have to fait for the renovation work at their stadium in Resen to end, meanwhile like today they will host their games in Ohrid.
