In the final game of Round 18, Vardar edged Gostivar 1:2 on the road to move into sole possession of first place.
The Gostivar vs. Vardar match, which was postponed this past Sunday due to the bad pitch caused by the snow, was rescheduled for Tuesday by FFM. Today, Gostivar played as host at the Atina Bojadji stadium in Ohrid. Vardar managed two goals from Filip Petrov and Aleksandar Petrović to defeat the last placed team on the standings and move into sole possession of first place.
Petrov scored the opening goal of the match in the 34th minute for Vardar, before Gostivar equalized just before halftime through Flamur Tairi via a converted penalty kick. The penalty was called after the referee ruled that Filip Despotovski played with a hand inside the area.
Vardar did secure all three points, though, when Petrović scored the game winning goal in the 70th minute. That lead stood the remaining of the way which sees Vardar move all alone in first place with 33 points, 2 more than Turnovo, Rabotnichki and Pelister who each have 31 points apiece.
