With a 2:0 win over Bankstown in the final, Rockdale claimed their third Maso Cup title, hence becoming the most successful club in the tournament’s history.
In the end, it was the co-hosts who faced each other in the final. Rockdale City Suns proved to be the best team as they not only defeated their local rivals Bankstown City, but also ended the tournament with 6 wins out of 6 games. Their goal difference was 17:0. With this win, they won their third Maso Cup title. They now lead the hall of fame ahead of Altona Magic, who has two trophies, and Bankstown City & Arncliffe Scots, who have one trophy.
To reach the final, Rockdale first destroyed Queanbeyan City 5:0 before facing Wollongong United in the semi-finals where they won by a lone goal. Bankstown celebrated two slim victories over Arncliffe Scots and the surprise of the tournament, Cringila Lions. The Lions from Cringila ended the group stage with the same amount of points as Bankstown and later eliminated holders Altona Magic in the quarter-finals.
In the over-35 edition, the co-hosts also faced in the final with Rockdale once again beating Bankstown 1:0. In the women’s final, it was the U17 team of Bankstown winning the trophy as they got past the reserve team of their very same club.
It was decided that the 2016 edition will be hosted by Wollongong United.
