Macedonian striker Stevica Ristić of Suwon was sent off in today’s game after a fight broke out between both teams after Al-Sadd scored a controversial second goal.  A Suwon player was injured so the club from South Korea kicked the ball out of play so the injured player can be attended by the medical staff.  Then, instead of Al-Sadd returning possession, they played the ball forward to the unmarked striker of Al-Sadd who rounded the keeper and scored into an empty net.

After that goal in the 81st minute, the Suwon players were livid and a fight broke out.  Every player was involved in the brawl as the game was held up for several minutes.  After the fighting stopped, Stevica Ristić and one Al-Sadd player were shown red cards by the referee.  However, how that was decided remains a mystery?  Every player on both sides took part in the brawl but the referee somehow only penalized two players with red cards, with one of them being Macedonian international Stevica Ristić.

The red card means that Ristić will be suspended for the return leg which will be played on 26 October.  Suwon lost today’s home game 0:2 so they are facing a tough task in the return leg in Qatar to overcome this deficit without their top striker Stevica Ristić.
