Goran Pandev made Napoli squad

Goran Pandev was among the 20 players called up by Napoli for Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Bayern München.

Pandev has finally recovered from his muscle strain injury on the left leg and was included in the squad for Wednesday’s Champions League encounter against Bayern München in Germany.  Pandev is expected to begin the match on the bench and make a substitution, if necessary, in the 2nd half if Napoli needs a goal.  Napoli will likely field a 3-4-3 formation with Ezequiel Lavezzi, Marek Hamsik, and Edinson Cavani as the three attackers.

Pandev has good memories of the Allianz Arena in Germany.  In March of this year, while Goran was wearing an Inter uniform, he scored a late game winning goal to eliminate Bayern München from the Champions League.  Inter won that game 3:2 to erase the negative first leg result of 0:1 in Italy.  That matchup ended up being 3:3 on aggregate but Inter advanced due to the away goals rule.  Keep in mind that Pandev also provided an assist during that thrilling win in Germany.

Goran has not played since 1 October during the Inter vs. Napoli game when he sustained a muscle strain injury.  He was originally supposed to miss only two weeks but the injury has proved problematic and it took about a month for Pandev to return to the Napoli squad.

Here are the 20 players called up by Napoli:

Goalkeepers: De Sanctis, Rosati, Colombo

Defenders: Aronica, Campagnaro, Fernandez, Fideleff, Grava

Midfielders: Dossena, Dzemaili, Hamsik, Inler, Maggio, Zuniga

Attackers: Cavani, Lavezzi, Mascara, Pandev, Santana, Ammendola
