Agim Ibraimi scored another goal for Maribor in today’s first leg of the semifinal matchup against Rudar in the Slovenian Cup.
Maribor celebrated a 2:4 road victory over Rudar to move one step closer to reaching the domestic cup final. Ibraimi started in midfield and played all 90 minutes for Maribor. Agim scored the fourth and final goal for his team in the 65th minute as he controlled a pass before firing a left footed shot from the edge of the area to the bottom right corner. That goal gave Maribor a 1:4 lead but Rudar reduced the deficit in the 81st minute to complete the 2:4 scoreline.
The return leg will be played in Maribor next Wednesday. With today’s result, Maribor will be the heavy favorite to advance to the Slovenian Cup final where they will face either Šencur or Celje. Those two clubs played a 1:1 draw today in the other semifinal matchup.
