Noveski scored an own goal

Nikolce Noveski scored an own goal for Mainz as his side suffered a convincing 4:0 home loss against Hoffenheim.

Noveski started at left CB for Mainz and played all 90 minutes as his club was humiliated at home by losing 4:0 against Hoffenheim.  The visitors took advantage of some mistakes and punished Mainz.  The first goal came after Mainz midfielder Eugen Polanski carelessly lost the ball in his half of the field.  Hoffenheim scored the second goal from a penalty while the third goal was scored by Ryan Babel following a counter attack.

In the 85th minute, Mainz once again carelessly lost the ball before Hoffenheim created another chance and Noveski inadvertently sent the ball into his own net while trying to clear the ball.  The keeper was easily beat and that goal capped the miserable game by Mainz who now have 7 points after five rounds in the German Bundesliga.
