While Pacovski was with the national team in Azerbaijan, his club team Beerschot signed veteran keeper Stijn Stijnen.
This was bad news for Pacovski’s chances of becoming the #1 keeper for Beerschot. The Belgian club is expected to sell their talented keeper Thomas Kaminski to Anderlecht in the next couple of days but they have already found a replacement in the 31 year old Stijn Stijnen. Pacovski was convinced he would become the first keeper for Beerschot after the sale of Kaminski but that is no longer the case. Even the club’s chairman Patrick Vanoppen said that Stijn Stijnen is not coming to the club to sit on the bench. He is expected to start in goal during the next game for Beerschot.
Pacovski managed to keep a clean sheet for the Macedonian national team during the 1:0 friendly victory over Azerbaijan. Belgian media reached Pacovski in Azerbaijan and Tome called the move an unpleasant surprise. Pacovski said, Did Stijnen really sign? Then, I’m suddenly in a difficult situation at Beerschot. I do not want to spend the entire year on the bench. I want to play in order to secure my place on the national team. Once I return to Belgium, I will talk to the manager and Mr. Vanoppen. I want to know how the rest of my career at Beerschot will look like.”
Pacovski is entering the final year on his contract so both sides could mutually agree to terminate the contract in order for Pacovski to latch on with another team where he can get his wish to play regularly.
