Striker Mirko Ivanovski is expected to move to the current Hungarian leaders, Videoton, due to the financial crisis at CFR Cluj.
The news about Ivanovski‘s transfer to Hungary was reported by sport.ro, a website that has a good reputation in Romania. CFR Cluj has not been paying the players’ salaries and Astra, Mirko’s former club, is suing CFR Cluj for still not paying the 100,000 transfer fee for Ivanovski. It appears that Videoton will pay some money to CFR Cluj which they will then send to Astra to cover part of what they owe them.
Videoton is the current leader in Hungary at the midway point of the season. They have dominated the league so far with a goal difference of +34, twenty better than the team with the next best margin. However, Videoton is looking to strengthen the team even more in anticipation of European qualifying in the summer.
If the transfer does get finalized, as expected, then Ivanovski will become the second Macedonian player in Hungary’s top flight. Enis Bardi, member of the U21 national team, plays there with Újpest.
