Nikola Gligorov celebrates his goal; photo: 24sports.com.cyNikola Gligorov scored a late goal to help Alki collect a point, Goran Pandev and Napoli celebrated a 3:1 victory over Chelsea in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16, while the teams of Ivan Trickovski and Boban Grncarov were eliminated from their respective domestic cups.

UEFA Champions League, Round of 16 (first leg), Napoli – Chelsea 3:1
Goran Pandev started on the bench for Napoli before he entered the game in the 82nd minute replacing Marek Hamšík.  Pandev had one shot on goal in the 87th minute but it went wide of the goal.  Napoli secured a solid home victory over Chelsea in the first leg and will look to progress to the next round of the competition in the return leg away to England on 14 March.

Belgium, Cofidis Cup, Lierse – Lokeren 0:3
Boban Grncarov did not play for Lierse due to a suspension.  With the home loss, Lierse was eliminated from the Belgian Cup by losing 0:4 on aggregate over the two games.  Meanwhile, Lokeren advanced to the domestic cup final where they will face Kortrijk.

Cyprus, Coca Cola Cup, AEL Limassol – APOEL 0:0
Ivan Trickovski began the game on the bench for APOEL before coming on in the 71st minute replacing Aldo Adorno.  APOEL was eliminated from the Cypriot Cup by losing 0:1 on aggregate after losing the first leg with that score.  In four games against AEL Limassol this season, two in league play and two more in the domestic cup, APOEL has still not scored a goal.

Cyprus, Marfin Laiki League, Alki – AEK Larnaca 2:2
Nikola Gligorov played all 90 minutes for Alki and scored the game tying goal in the 80th minute to salvage a point for the home side.  After a long cross from the left, an Alki player headed a pass back which fell perfectly for Gligorov who fired a low and powerful shot past the AEK Larnaca keeper.

Cyprus, Marfin Laiki League, Enosis – Ermis 1:0
Petar Milosevski played from the start for Enosis as did his teammate Bojan Markoski.  Milosevski kept a clean sheet while Markoski contributed to that feat in the centre of the Enosis defense and also received a yellow card in the 45th minute.

Azerbaijan, Unibank Premyer Liqası, Neftçi – Ravan 1:0
Both Igor Mitreski and Slavco Georgievski played the entire game for Neftçi who notched a slim victory with the lone goal being scored by striker Flavinho in the 83rd minute.  Georgievski scored a goal earlier in the game but it was disallowed for offside by the assistant referee.

Azerbaijan, Unibank Premyer Liqası, Qarabağ – Kapaz 1:0
Muarem Muarem started on the bench for Qarabağ before he entered the game in the 71st minute replacing Bakhtiyar Soltanov while his teammate Nderim Nedzipi was not called up.

Azerbaijan, Unibank Premyer Liqası, AZAL – Turan 3:2
Robert Petrov played all 90 minutes for AZAL and also received a yellow card in the 67th minute.

Greece, Football Cup OPAP, Asteras – Kerkyra 1:0
Goran Maznov was not called up by Kerkyra who was eliminated from the Greek Cup.
