Agim Ibraimi started for Maribor in midfield and played until the 78th minute when he was substituted by Dejan Mezga. Maribor’s lone goal came in the 39th minute on an own goal by Milan Badelj who also happened to then score the game winner in the 74th minute to give Dinamo Zagreb a narrow lead heading into the return leg in Slovenia next week.

Vlatko Grozdanoski got the start for Liaoning and played until the 73rd minute when he was substituted by Hu Yanqiang. Liaoning lost the first leg of its Chinese Cup semifinal matchup against Guangzhou Evergrande, the club managed by famous Italian coach Marcello Lippi.
