With a number of leagues across the world either finished for the season or on their winter break, it was another slow weekend for Macedonian players based abroad. Instead, this weekend’s performances were marked by two bad misses. Goran Pandev had a penalty attempt saved against his former club Inter, while Jovan Kostovski missed a sitter from close range in Belgium.

Goran Pandev started on the bench for Napoli before he made a late appearance in the 90th minute to replace Anthony Réveillère. Moments later, Pandev was brought down inside the area by Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia, leading to a penalty for Napoli. Pandev and his teammate Lorenzo Insigne discussed who to take the penalty, but Pandev eventually won out to take the spot kick. However, Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovič saved Pandev’s penalty and the ball then went out for a corner.
