Macedonian First League – Round 21

Filip Petrov scores the winner for Vardar against Metalurg; photo: ekipa.mkVardar defeated Metalurg in a matchup of the top two teams on the table, while Shkendija and Teteks played  a goalless draw in the derby of the city of Tetovo.

Thanks to a late goal by attacker Filip Petrov in the 86th minute, table leaders Vardar defeated second placed Metalurg 1:0 and increased their lead to 10 points.  Vardar finds itself in a great position with two thirds of the season almost done, and the famous Macedonian club looks likely to become the champion this season.

The heated in-city derby between Shkendija and Teteks ended in a goalless draw.  A lot more was expected from this game so the fans of both sides will go home disappointed.

Rabotnichki celebrated a minimal road victory over Ohrid.  The game winner was scored in the 73rd minute when Ohrid defender Nemanja Bradonjić gave away a penalty and was also sent off by picking up his second yellow card.  Vetaran Rabotnichki striker Borche Manevski converted the penalty to bring his club all three points.

As expected, Sileks defeated last placed 11 Oktomvri 2:0 at home, while Bregalnica Shtip and Horizont Turnovo played a 1:1 draw. The home team failed to use the one player advantage after attacker Dragan Gjorgiev was shown a red card for the visitors in the 71st minute.
