First League – Round 2

Moment of the Rabotnichki vs. Makedonija gameTurnovo and Metalurg cruised with convincing four goal victories, Pelister narrowly defeated Renova, Vardar disappointed with just a draw, while Shkendija collected its first point of the early season.

The big news in the Gorno Lisiche vs. Vardar game was that striker Jovan Kostovski was not with the team, thus raising speculation that a transfer is imminent.  Kostovski has been heavily linked with Dinamo București.

As for today’s game, Vardar seemed to lack motivation and went down early in 13th minute when Gorno Lisiche scored with a header following a corner kick.  The goal woke up Vardar who then scored two unanswered goals in the 35th and 49th minute through Jorge Giménez and Aco Stojkov.  However, Gorno Lisiche tied it up in the 74th minute through a converted penalty after keeper Igor Pavlović was called for a foul inside the area.

Turnovo and Metalurg, on the other hand, had no problems by easily dispatching of Napredok and Gostivar, respectively.  Like Vardar, Turnovo was also missing an important player in Dejan Blazhevski who was recently spotted in Ukraine where he is looking to make a transfer.  Despite his absence, Turnovo got a hat-trick from Zoran Baldovaliev and a goal from recent signing Filip Naumchevski to down Napredok, while Metalurg scored all four of its goals in the 2nd half to get past Gostivar.  Metalurg took advantage of being a more fit team in scoring their four goals.  New signing Zoran Vujović, who came from Serbian club Novi Pazar, scored the first goal for Metalurg, while the other three goals were netted by Marjan Radeski, Sedat Berisha and Martin Shishkov.

Pelister also stayed perfect in the early season with a hard fought road victory over Renova.  The Bitola based club showed good determination to bounce back from an early deficit thanks to an own goal by Renova just before halftime before Filip Milenkovski scored the game winning goal in the 70th minute.

Meanwhile, Shkendija collected its first point with a 1:1 draw in Shtip against Bregalnica.  The home side took the lead through Goran Zdravkov, but Shkendija striker Goran Maznov insured his team got a point in the 70th minute when he used an assist from Jasir Selmani to reach the back of the net.  Maznov was recently signed by Shkendija as he was requested by manager Gjore Jovanovski.

On Saturday, Rabotnichki snatched three points with a minimal 1:0 home win over newly promoted side Makedonija Gjorche Petrov thanks to a goal by Kire Markoski.
