Interesting statement by Metalurg’s captain Mile Krstev in front of tomorrow’s Europa League clash with Qarabağ.
Metalurg is the first Macedonian club to open the European season as they host Azeri side Qarabağ tomorrow at 17.45 at the National Arena Philip II of Macedon in Skopje. Both clubs faced each other in the same competition back in 2010 when Qarabağ eliminated Metalurg with a 4:1 home win and a 1:1 draw in Skopje.
But the 34-years-old allrounder Mile Krstev thinks that Metalurg will be victorious this time and that probably he will score if he is gets a chance for at least 5 minutes on the field: “Qarabağ isn’t a team that we should fear from. I played on the first leg game last time and all I can say is that the luck wasn’t on our side. We lost 4:1 on the road although we created many chances and they score 4 goals from 3 chances. Now it’s time to show that we know to play good and get a result that will launch us into the next round. I have no clue how many minutes will the manager give me on the field, but I need only 5 to score!”said Krstev on today’s press-conference.
Krstev is one of the most experienced players that currently play in the domestic League. He spent much of his career in the Netherlands playing for Heerenveen, Veendam and Groningen. Also he used to be part of the Macedonian national team for which he played 22 matches and scored twice. For Metalurg he has been playing an various positions in the midfield and also as central defender, showing that he is a gifted footballer.
