Košice signed defender Sakir Redzepi

Slovak club Košice made defender Sakir Redzepi their first reinforcement in the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old Sakir Redzepi was born in Tetovo, Macedonia and becomes the first signing for Slovak top division side Košice in the 2012 January transfer window.  Redzepi grew up in the youth system of Shkendija and also played for their first team before he then moved to play for another Macedonian side in Renova.  Since that point, Redzepi has bounced from team to team abroad and last played for Al-Taawon in Saudi Arabia.  Redzepi formerly played for the Macedonian U19 and U21 youth national teams but has not been capped by the senior national team.

Košice announced on its website that Redzepi has signed a 2 year deal with the club.  He becomes the second Macedonian player on Košice after goalkeeper Darko Tofiloski.  After the conclusion of the first half of the season, Košice finds itself in 10th place out of 12 teams with 18 points after 18 rounds.
