Mirko Ivanovski added his second goal for Videoton, both in cup matches, to help them reach the semi-finals.
Striker Mirko Ivanovski has not seen much action in league encounter (only one appearance off the bench), but he did get a chance to start in Wednesday’s Hungarian Cup clash against Pécs. However, Ivanovski played in attacking midfield in a 4-2-3-1 formation, not as the main striker. That’s not possible at Videoton since Róbert Feczesin and Nemanja Nikolić are the top two guys at CF.
So, on Wednesday, Ivanovski played until the 72nd minute and scored his team’s second goal in their comfortable 3:0 victory. The goal came at the hour mark when he received a good pass which he fired to the back of the net from close range. Over the two legs, Videoton won 5:1 on aggregate to reach the semi-finals of the domestic cup in Hungary.
Videoton will next face Újpest, the team of Enis Bardhi, this weekend. It is a league match, so we’ll see if Wednesday’s goal leads the manager to reconsider Ivanovski getting a chance in the starting lineup versus Újpest.
This article was written separate since the midweek internationals performances will not be published on late Thursday/early Friday. Simply, there were not enough games involving Macedonian players from this past Monday to Thursday, so that’s the reasoning behind that.
Instead, the Macedonian internationals performances will return this weekend (published late Sunday/early Monday) since the international break is now over.
