Interview with Kiril Kotevski

How much do you follow the Macedonian football?
– Macedonia, the Macedonian football and the Macedonian sport are in my heart. I think that I follow all important events in the Macedonian football and I try to know everything that is going on. I'm a huge fan of FK Vardar and I'm really sad that my favorite club is in that crisis. I watch almost all matches of the Macedonian national team, but it's sad that the Macedonian media are not very interested about the Macedonian football, so I rarely watch a match from the domestic league.

What has to be done so Macedonia gets better domestic football and full stadiums?
–  Another nice question that need more space for analysis. Believe me, the most important thing is that the people must have will and desire to do something about it.
There are many ways for improving the things, but it needs a lot of time, and huge love for our country and our football. Everything must start with the young football players. If a detail plan is made about work of the football in Macedonia, I would choose the generation born in 2001 to start working with them with plans starting from the youth to the seniors. Of course, money is needed, but I think that we can achieve a lot with less money. I think that many relevant factors can help us out if a detail long-term plan for development of the football. FIFA and UEFA will donate money if they are used for good purposes, without having to fear that they will end up in someones pocket. The media have big role in this. They have to make idols from our best players, so the kids can compare themselves with Pandev, Sedloski, Nadzipi, Despotovski… They must make special TV shows about our league with guests, previews, analysis… When more people will follow our football, then there will be less space for fixing matches, bad refereeing and other bad things because everybody will witness it. Now with only 200 people on the stadium, no one can tell if some match is fixed or the referee was wrong and no one is really interested about that. By improving this, more sponsors will be interested in investing.
Following our players who live and are born abroad is also a way for improvement of our football. There are a lot talented kids who are born abroad. Believe me, it doesn't take to much to win their sympathy. Someone from FFM only needs to call them or their parents so they know that someone cares about them. It doesn't cost a lot if once a year all coaches of the Macedonian national teams make a camp for all football players from abroad so they can see their qualities.
Last year I wanted to bring my team from AB on preparations in Macedonia and I delivered the plan to FFM but no one was really interested about it although it wasn't supposed to cost them anything because we were paying for everything. We were forced to change our plans and go to on preparations at Barcelona and I was really sad.

Which Macedonian players have made good impression on you and which young players do you think that have the talent and have chances to develop into big football stars?
– Having in mind that I don't have chance to follow much the domestic leagues, my knowledge about Macedonian players is not so big. I have seen all national team members and like everyone I can say that Pandev is extraordinary player with great technics that not many players have. Sadly but his speed without ball can be big factor who will influence his career. In any case, Goran Pandev has all possibilities to become a world star and I hope that he will have his good performances in our national team also.
Apart from Pandev, I like the play of Noveski and Grozdanoski. I appreciate Naumoski because he plays with big heart and wish. That can take him to a bigger English club where his qualities will be more appreciate.
From our league, I've seen Nedzipi and I have very high oppinion for him. He is similar to Pandev and he also has nice technique but his weakens is the movement without ball. I also like Pejčić from Rabotnicki who is very fast and modern player with great feeling for the ball.
I haven't seen many young players but I've heard a lot good words for Peev from Vardar and Trickovski also has the abilities to develop into good player.
In this context I must mention that my idol was and still is Milko Gjurovski who was real magician with the ball. Also I was real admirer of Darko Pancev's skills for scoring goals and in these day I admire the moves of Goran Pandev.
