Igor Mitreski shown red card for Neftçi

Defender Igor Mitreski was shown a red card during today’s game between Neftçi and Kapaz.

Neftçi closed the first half of the season in Azerbaijan with a 2:0 home victory over Kapaz.  However, Macedonian defender Igor Mitreski was shown his second yellow card of the game in the 55th minute for unsportsmanlike conduct, thus leading to a red card by the referee.  The first yellow card for Mitreski came in the 45th minute for a bad foul.  The visiting club Kapaz also finished the game with 10 men after one of their players received a red card in the 66th minute.

Mitreski’s teammate Slavco Georgievski also started for Neftçi and played all 90 minutes.  Neftçi scored both goals in the 1st half to collect the victory and remain in first place on the table.  Neftçi now has 38 points after 18 rounds, one more point than Inter Baku.  This round also marked the conclusion of the first half of the season as the winter break will now get underway in Azerbaijan.  The next game for Neftçi is not until 11 February 2012 when they face FK Baku on the road.
