Horizont Turnovo won play-off to stay in First League

Turnovo players celebrate after the gameIn the second promotion/relegation playoff, Horizont Turnovo celebrated a minimal 1:0 win over Gorno Lisiche to remain in the First League for next season.

The only goal of the game was scored in the 31st minute by Turnovo left-back Aleksandar Milushev who got the better off the Gorno Lisiche keeper with a shot from around 30 meters.  It was definitely one of the better goals of the season in any of the Macedonian leagues.

Gorno Lisiche tried to equalize in the second half, but most of their attacks were cleared around the box by the Turnovo players who displayed more experience and savvy, with the club partaking in the First League for 4 consecutive seasons in a row.

For Turnovo striker Dragan Gjorgiev, this was probably his last game for the club as he is supposedly close to joining the league champion Vardar.

As for Gorno Lisiche, with a win, they would have been promoted to the First League for first time in history, but they came up short and will remain in the second division next season.

With the conclusion of this playoff, the 2011/12 season in the Macedonian First and Second League is officially over.  The next season will start sometime in August.  The 12 teams that will make up the First League include Vardar, Metalurg, Shkendija, Renova, Bregalnica, Sileks, Napredok, Rabotnichki, Horizont Turnovo, Teteks, Pelister and Drita.
