Goran Popov resumed training, still can’t play

Goran PopovGoran Popov resumed training with Dynamo Kyiv this week but has still not been cleared to play in games.

After undergoing surgery in November of 2011 to repair a damaged meniscus, Goran Popov has made good progress and resumed training with Dynamo Kyiv this week.  In an interview, Popov said that he still can’t play games at the moment but hopes to return to action as quickly as 3 February if everything goes well and there are no setbacks.  Dynamo Kyiv faces Russian side Krylia Sovetov in a friendly on that date.

Speaking to Dynamo Kyiv’s website after Friday’s training, Popov stated, “Today was very hard.  The trainers underwent hard training and it was not easy to sustain it.  After surgery, it is difficult to get accustomed to such high intensity training so in the afternoon session, the trainers allowed me to train individually.  I will not be able to play in tomorrow’s friendly against Cracovia.  From Sunday to Tuesday, we have three days off which I will spend in Switzerland with my brother but my wife and kids will also be there.  At the beginning of February, I don’t expect to have any limitations in training and if everything goes well, the first friendly for me could be on 3 February when we face Krylia Sovetov.”
