Goran Pandev had another solid performance in today’s Napoli vs. Lecce game with Goran providing the assist on the second goal for Napoli.
After scoring a brace in the previous game against Juventus, Goran Pandev was rewarded with another start for Napoli as the manager decided to rotate the squad with Marek Hamsik dropping to the bench and Edinson Cavani back in the starting lineup after he missed the Juventus game with a minor injury. Pandev played on the right wing in Napoli’s 3-4-2-1 formation as he was joined in attack by Ezequiel Lavezzi on the left wing and Cavani as the lone striker. Napoli controlled the game, especially in the 1st half, and went on to record a 4:2 victory over last placed Lecce.
Goran was active in the opening half and provided the assist on the second goal for Napoli in the 33rd minute when his good through ball reached Cavani who did the rest by sending his shot past the Lecce keeper. The opposing keeper got a piece of the shot but Cavani’s effort still reached the back of the net. Pandev also had two quality chances but he was denied on both occasions. Goran’s best chance came in the 30th minute following a corner. Lavezzi took the corner and after Cavani’s header from a tight angle was saved, Pandev had two chances on the rebound from close range but both of his efforts were blocked by Lecce players. His other chance came in the 38th minute with a left footed shot from just outside of the area but the Lecce keeper was able to make the save. Goran was not as active in the 2nd half and he was then substituted by midfielder Walter Gargano in the 60th minute as Napoli came under pressure from Lecce during that period.
With the win, Napoli climbed to fifth place on the table with 20 points while Lecce remained in last place with only 8 points after 13 rounds in the Italian top division.
