Goran Pandev was an unused substitute as his Inter lost 2:1 against Milan in the Italian Super Cup.
The Supercoppa played between the defending league champions Milan and the domestic cup champions Inter was played today in China. Inter took the lead in the 22nd minute when Wesley Sneijder scored directly from a free kick but Milan bounced back and scored two goals in the 2nd half to claim their first trophy of the season. Unfortunately, Goran Pandev stayed on the bench for the entire game as Inter manager Gian Piero Gasperini decided to play other attackers even though Pandev has been having a solid preseason. Pandev not starting for Inter was not a surprise but Gasperini bringing on 18 year old Luc Castaignos ahead of Pandev in the 2nd half raised eyebrows and brought Goran’s future with the club in question. This was an important game for Gasperini against heated rivals Milan and for him to bring an inexperienced striker in Castaignos over Pandev certainly does not look good for Goran.
