Only 3 internationals and 19 players from the domestic league found themselves on the list for the upcoming two friendlies against China.
It was known that national team manager Boshko Gjurovski will summon players from the domestic clubs, and that was confirmed today when he revealed the full list. Goalkeeper Kristijan Naumovski, defender Aleksandar Damchevski and midfielder Nijas Lena are the only internationals who last played with abroad clubs, while all the others are domestic based players, most of them (9) coming from the Cup and League champion Rabotnichki. Seven of the players called up were part of the squad that faced Cameroon and Qatar in late May (Naumovski, Efremov, Damchevski, Cuculi, Manevski, Sulejmanov and Ilijoski).
“The games against Cameroon and Qatar were very useful for me and my assistants as well. The young players got a chance to playi n those games and I am satisfied by a few players that showed potential and left a positive impression. The goal for the China games remains the same, to get a real look of the domestic player’s qualities. We are intensively following several of them and these two games will show us if they really have the quality to become part of the national team. Even before the last two games, we have said that the results aren’t our top priority in these friendlies. Instead, our main goal is to get a clear image of the new players which later may become part of the team that will play in the EURO 2016 qualifiers. This is probably the last chance for these players to show what they are capable of and whether they can cement a place in the team, while in the upcoming months we will concentrate on training the team which will be known before the start of the qualifiers.” – Gjurovski said to the official web site of FFM.
