The top scorer of the Macedonian league this past season, Filip Ivanovski, has decided to continue his career in Kazakhstan with Astana.
Finances played a huge part in the decision of Filip Ivanovski to leave the Macedonian champion Vardar for a journey in Kazakhstan with Astana. Vardar could simply not compete with Astana financially. The deal has still not been made official on Astana’s website but a source close to Dimitrija Lazarevski, already a member of Astana, told us that Ivanovski has indeed signed a 2 year contract with the club. Filip is expected to make his debut for Astana on 8 July in the home game against Kairat.
According to media reports, Ivanovski will make over 200,000 Euros per season on his 2 year contract with Astana. His new team is tied for 7th place on the table with 24 points, but the standings are very close in Kazakhstan as Astana trails the table leaders by just four points while also having a game in hand as well. Filip becomes the fourth Macedonian to suit up for Astana in the club’s history after Vlade Lazarevski, Bobi Bozhinovski and Dimitrija Lazarevski.
