Both the national team and the national team for players under 21 years of age celebrated a victory in their friendly matches.
A double joy for Macedonia like we are not used to see. Both the seniors and the U21 squad won in their friendlies. Firstly we saw Macedonia U21 hosting Serbia U21 on Boris Trajkovski stadium in Madzari, Skopje. Despite the couple of changes to the expected squad, the youngsters played an excellent match that was completed with former Vardar’s player Filip Petrov who scored the winning goal for Macedonia towards the end of the first half.
To round up a perfect day for Macedonia, Pandev & co. took care. Revenge at its’ best against Montenegro who got a victory against Macedonia in 2008 in a friendly match. The same scoreline (2-1) was seen today, but this time in favour of Macedonia. Naumoski opened the score in 28th minute after an excellent pass by Stojkov, Pandev doubled the lead 4 minutes later. Montenegro pulled one back in the middle of the second half when Basa sent a strong header following a corner kick, but that was all they did in terms of scoring. You can view the match report here.
Overall, perfect start for both national teams which hopefully can continue later in the year.
