There have been quite a few changes in the fourth edition of our power rankings for the First League. Shkendija, Bregalnica and Pelister rose on our list based on their form over the past five games. Vardar and Rabotnichki played an entertaining 2:2 draw, Pelister closed the gap on struggling Turnovo to only one point for the 8th position, while Shkendija needed two late goals to overcome a stubborn Sileks defense.
Pelister collected a crucial victory against Turnovo, Shkendija extended its stronghold for 3rd place with a win over Renova, while both Vardar and Rabotnichki took care of business against Metalurg and Sileks, respectively.
The championship and relegation play-offs get underway this weekend after the regular season concluded following Round 27.
Vardar beat Rabotnichki in the Skopje derby, Shkendija dismantled Turnovo, Metalurg clinched a top-6 finish despite only drawing 0:0 against Teteks, Bregalnica defeated Sileks, while Pelister and Renova shared the points in Bitola.
Shkendija scored a late goal to get past Vardar, Rabotnichki was held to a home draw against Metalurg, while Sileks narrowly beat Pelister to guarantee itself a top-6 finish, thus avoiding the relegation play-off.
Just like Rabotnichki, Vardar utilized a late goal this round to beat their opponent, Pelister recorded its first league win in over seven months by downing last placed Teteks, while nothing changed for the teams ranked between 5th and 8th place.
With help from UEFA’s HatTrick programme, the first part of the stadium’s renovation began on Wednesday.
Rabotnichki held off Renova, while Teteks won on penalties over Turnovo to set up a rematch of the 2009-10 cup final.
Shkendija could only muster a home draw versus Metalurg, Vardar moved four points clear of Rabotnichki after today’s results, Bregalnica piled more misery on Pelister, while Turnovo cruised to a win over Teteks.
