Borche Manevski set to sign with Vardar

Manevski (R) has opted to sign with Vardar; photo: ohridnews.comAfter not being able to secure a transfer with an abroad team, Borche Manevski has opted to return to Macedonia and sign a contract with Vardar.

Borche Manevski was on trial with Neftçi from Azerbaijan but was not offered a contract.  He then looked at other abroad clubs but no deal was reached so Borche has opted to return to Macedonia and sign with the defending league champion Vardar.

Manevski gives Vardar another in the box striker, to go along with Jovan Kostovski, who will be tasked with picking up some of the production that arose with the recent departure of Filip Ivanovski.  Vardar manager Ilcho Gjorgjioski was pushing for his club to sign Manevski and got his wish which will afford Vardar added depth and competition within the squad.  The 27-year-old Manevski is a proven player in the Macedonian league, and he will also expected to help Vardar in the Champions League qualifications, beginning in the matchup against BATE Borisov later this month.

Borche was scheduled to take a medical earlier in the day and then officially sign his 18 month contract.  Vardar returned from Zlatibor today and will continue their preparations for BATE Borisov in Macedonia.  Vardar’s official website noted that Manevski was expected to join up with his new teammates for the afternoon training.
