Central defender Boban Grncharov has signed a three year deal with Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv.
Boban Grncharov has decided to continue his career in Bulgaria. Newly promoted side Botev Plovdiv have secured the signing of Grncharov. The tall center back has signed a three year deal, according to the club’s official website.
Botev Plovdiv has just earned promotion to the Bulgarian top division but they want to make an impact right away as the club possesses good finances. As a reminder, last year’s Bulgarian champion Ludogorets won the league title in the same year they were promoted from the second division. Besides Boban, Botev also signed a defensive midfielder in Tomáš Jirsák, formerly of Wisla Krakow.
Grncharov last played for Lierse in Belgium. Boban will turn 30 years old in August and was looking for the best deal financially at this point in his career, and that offer came from Botev Plovdiv. Lierse actually wanted to bring back Grncharov but they were far apart on finances. Boban comes to Botev with plenty of experience and has also been caped 24 times by the Macedonian national team.
