Several Ukrainian newspapers reported the transfer earlier this week but neither the website of Tavria nor Sevastopol reported the move so we waited until the move became official to report the transfer.  Tavria played a friendly today and Besart Ibraimi joined the team and played the first game for his new team.  He played the 1st half in a 4:1 win for Tavria.  Ibraimi’s new team finished in 7th place this past season and the club targeted Ibraimi after his now former team Sevastopol was relegated.  Besart signed a two year deal with Tavria.

Ibraimi is 24 years old and made headlines in January of 2010 when he made a surprising transfer from Renova to German club Schalke 04.  However, he failed to impress in Germany and only made two league appearances for Schalke before he was moved to the reserve team.  He couldn’t even play for the reserve team because he was a non EU player so he was facing an uncertain future until Sevastopol came calling.  They showed interest in Ibraimi and signed him during the 2011 January transfer window.  Ibraimi had a successful stint with Sevastopol by scoring three goals in 11 league appearances but his club was barely relegated in the final round of the season.  However, his good form drew interest from numerous teams including Tavria who were the most interested team to acquire Ibraimi’s services.

Besart was named as the best player in the Macedonian top division in 2009 and that was also the year when he made his debut for the Macedonian national team.  He currently has seven caps for the national team but is still looking for his first goal.
