Edin Nuredinoski could still get his wish to leave Ethnikos Achnas after Anorthosis is in the market for a new keeper.
After the bad performances of the Bulgarian keeper Dimitar Ivankov against Rabotnicki, the Anorthosis board of directors are expected to terminate the contract of the 35 year keeper early next week. Anorthosis will most likely keep their Bulgarian manager Stanimir Stoilov despite the early elimination from the Europa League but the Cypriot club was not happy with the keeper Ivankov and they are ready to terminate his contract. He just joined the club earlier this summer but the board of directors are livid at the soft goals he conceded, especially in the first game, and they are prepared to part ways with him. According to Cypriot media, Edin Nuredinoski will then be the most likely guy to replace Ivankov as the new goalkeeper for Anorthosis.
Keep in mind that Anorthosis was linked with Nuredinoski earlier this summer but the Anorthosis manager Stoilov knew Ivankov from their past and ultimately decided to sign the Bulgarian keeper who came as a free transfer. Matúš Kozáčik, the other keeper on Anorthosis, was benched by Stoilov for the Rabotnicki games because of his bad performance against Gagra in the previous round. He faced heavy criticism from the media and fans and that prompted Stoilov’s decision to go with Ivankov. However, Ivankov proved even worse so they are in the market for a new keeper. Nuredinoski has made a good name for himself in Cyprus where he is regarded as one of the best keepers in the country and Anorthosis meets his criteria of a bigger team as they regularly play in European competitions. To acquire Nuredinoski, Anorthosis will need to pay 150,000 euros which is the amount on his opt out clause with Ethnikos Achnas.
Nuredinoski was expected to continue his career in Russia with Rostov but that transfer fell through after Croatian keeper Stipe Pletikosa became available. Edin was training with Rostov for about two weeks but the club was playing the waiting game with him to see if Pletikosa would become available. Once he did, they gave Pletikosa a 2 year deal which left Nuredinoski on the outside looking in. Nuredinoski felt betrayed by Rostov but he may still get his wish to join a bigger club if he ends up with Anorthosis.
