Belgian media reported earlier today that Besart Abdurahimi inked a 3 year deal with Lokeren that also has an option for a fourth year as well.
Lokeren was looking for an attacking minded player after Hamdi Harbaoui left the club last week to move to Qatar. Initially, Lokeren’s sporting director told the local media that he wanted to sign either a Belgian player or someone who was familiar with the league in Belgium. However, Lokeren opted to reverse course and sign Besart Abdurahimi, a Macedonian international born in Croatia.
Abdurahimi has been searching for a club all summer since he had no desire to stay with NK Zagreb. He spent last season on loan at Hapoel Tel-Aviv in Israel, and now he will be moving permanently to Belgium with Lokeren.
Although born in Croatia, Besart recently made the decision to represent Macedonia internationally. He won his first two caps in the friendlies against Cameroon and Qatar back in May of this year.
