The FFM has received several offers to play friendly matches in the pre-World Cup preparation period. The most specific is that of Tunisia, whose national team is also eager to visit Skopje, although the FFM announced that they agree to play the match on a neutral venue somewhere in Europe.
There is also an offer from Mexico, one of the three co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup, but that offer is for an away game across the Atlantic. The offer has not been rejected, but it is unlikely to be accepted unless the home federation covers part of the costs for this expensive trip.
There is currently no specific date for these matches, which will be defined after their eventual officialization.
Macedonia has never played against Tunisia or Mexico, and it would be good to play a match like this on home soil so that the fans can enjoy seeinmg a new oponent.
At the 2026 World Cup, Tunisia is in Group F along with the Netherlands, Japan and the winner of European play-off path B, while Mexico is in Group A with South Africa, South Korea and the winner of European play-off parth D, the one that includes Macedonia for the March play-offs. If we qualify for the World Cup, we will be in the same group as Mexico.
Tunisia is currently participating in the Africa Cup of Nations, where it is in a group with Uganda, Nigeria and Tanzania, and has already celebrated a 3:1 victory against Uganda, led by Vardar’s Rogers Mato.
